Milked by the vet

Today was the annual vet trip. Instead of lunch I took my boys to the vet. Both dogs wanted out of the car at the SAME time, and of course my door- so when I went to grab Tiger's leash- I got total rope burn on the PALM of my hand. EEEiiiee! This vet is fabulous though. Monkee was even giving him face kisses (intermittently after hiding behind me....). Tiger was the star of the show of course. We are in a little room w/ the vet doctor and 2 technicians. We are all sitting on the floor. The doc is trying to administer the shots to Monkee when Tiger nudges his arm up and crawls onto his lap to watch what is being done to Monkee. Then of course they called everyone in to see how Tiger likes to sit up and hold peoples hands. Monkee decided to show off and stand on his hind legs.
So let us not even discuss the costs of the vet. A year supply of heartworm pills is a killer. Goodness. Of course, both my boys are in the largest size option! Are those safe to shop online for?....There has got to be better deals out there.
So 7 year old Monkee weighed in at 55.5 pounds. Tiger (3 ½) weighed in at 83.8 pounds.
If I had an extra limb and the camera on me I would have had to of taken pics for you all. They were quiet the handful though- the technicians had to put the receipts and pills in my pants for me since I had no free hands.
My heart goes out to GA Girl who has to take 4 animals to the vet!

What a decadent weekend

I figure I better post so I don't try to do it tonight during HW time!

This was a super social holiday weekend.
On Friday I got to leave work early (and nap!). Then we met Nic & Ot at the movies to see X-Men 3 (I love X-Men). Then we had dinner outside at RJ Gators- oh so trendy w/ the thunderstorm winds rolling in). Then we played Scattegories. On Satiuday Chuckstar & I went to campus (he had class & I did HW). Afterwards we met up W/ Rob & Lisa for dinner. Lisa & I went to see Mama Mia (better than I expected) while the boys saw a movie. On Sunday, Chuckstar & I ended up in New Symerna- no cell phones, no email- very unusual for me! Chuckstar even caught a Flounder at the end of the dock (he threw it back in). Today is just a HW and housework day. We used SPF 45- I think we actually came back whiter than when we left!

If it wasnt so hot out- I would go measure for a pool safety fence. I learned that I know no one in O-town personally who has bought one! We would also like to invest in one of those things that goes on the side of the pool and if it gets splashed- an alarm goes off. Anyone ever do any research on those?

I hope you all had a great holiday weekend!

Now I have heard it all.

I can't imagine the dinner conversation the inventor of this product must have been engaged in. What do you say? "Gee honey, I think I will invent PRE-SEED LUBRICANT." Who comes up with this stuff?!?!? I can't make something like this up: http://www.babyhopes.com/pre-seed.html

My lil angels are in danger.

Last night I went to plant some bushes in my backyard. I noticed my fence was shut, but not latched properly. So I did my planting and made SURE the the fence door was latched. I showered at 9pm and heard the neighbors playing basketball. Apparently sometimes their bball comes into our yard and they come in and get it. So when I was leaving this morning- I noticed the fence door completely WIDE open. Are you kidding me?!?!? I am going to half to lock that fence up like Fort Knox- that is a huge liability issue w/ having a pool and kids wandering in or the dogs wondering out and either scare someone or get hit by a car. Grrrrrr!

How hard is it to make sure a fence is properly shut?

Ways to tell the hubbie

So a couple of people have sent me suggestions on how to tell the husband when I find out the good news. I know how I am going to do it (it is top secret though) but here were some suggestions that people sent:

While playing a board game like "clue" or "password", you can make all of the words "baby" related.Nicole

you could talk him into going on a dog walk with you and having
then saying - oh - I forgot the other leash - could you get it - it's in the
utility room - and it could be there on the stroller . . . . or have him
help fold the laundry and have some little booties in there or something - hand
him one - you know - fold socks together and say "can you find the match for
this one?" Sis

put baby shoes inside his shoes. -Kathy

Text picture of pregnancy result to his cell over dinner.

So my parents told my grandparents they were pregnant with a card. I was the first grandchild and my grandparents were going on a cruise. My parents went down to the dock to see them off and gave them a card that said "Bon Yoage Grandma and Grandpa" PLUS it was a big deal cruise and there were TV cameras there so my grandfather announced it on the news and thats how the other set of grandparents found out. You could go over to their house with lots of baby-proofing supplies, like corner protectors, outlet covers etc and just get to work and see what they say. -Alexis

Give him a UCF DAD sticker for the car

I am of course still open for suggestions if you have any.

I still havent had one same reading with that thermometer thing yet! That cracks me up.

So ladies- I gotta tell you. Prenatal vitamins rock. My nails are like cement. I am having to file these bad boys down either every night or every other night. They also make your hair grow faster. You shouldnt color your hair when you are pregnant so I am trying to let my hair grow out back to its natural color (what a pain in the rear- but at least it is growing out fast). Its also fun to watch b/c it is coming back a color I have never seen before- so who knows what it will look like next year!

Speaking of changes- this should be my last week of going to the chiropractor (I have been going since Sept 16 from the fool(s) that hit my car). Since my visits, I have grown a whole half an inch. I have been measured by 3 different doctors and all say I went from 5 ft 9 to 5 ft 9 1/2 Sweet!

Once I figure out how to do pictures on this blog- I'll start a chronicle diary of how the belly grows. That should be grossly entertaining. Of course, I can do that now since there is a new Sonnys down the street.....

The only other news I have is that I am going to try to get an evening teaching job in the fall at SCC. For this summer, things are kicking up in high gear for my computer science camp. The applicant pool is extraordinary- girls w/ perfect SAT scores who do track, soccer, and volleyball as well as kick butt in programming. I also picked up some of the coolest plants ever for the garden at work (man I gotta learn how to post pics! I got a FLICKR account but don't know how to link the 2 yet).

Time for HW.

Trying to get pregnant mishaps

Ahhh, the wonderful world of trying to get pregnant.
So I decided I would look into trying that 'take your temperature each day' routine. Boy is that a load of crap! The theory is- when you ovulate, your temperature changes by half a degree. Okay, simple enough right? Not so much. My temperature readings were 98, then 98.2, then 97.1. So where is the consistency!? Half a degree from which temperature?!?! Point of story- that method is stupid!

At our first attempt, we were so good, We bought the best of the best prenatal vitamins and started those 3 or or 4 months before we planned to start trying like you are supposed to. We did the tracking thing. Bought the ovulation kit (you basically pee on a stick and it detects a surge in LH). We even took a romantic trip (although some sites don't recommend flying in the 1st and 3rd trimester but I don't think fertilzation time counts...). So all is well, right? Two weeks later I feel those girlie cramps. Not good. So I stressed about that so much it scared my period from even coming (sorry for the details boys). Are you kidding me?!?!? I went to the doc and the test was negative :( Oh the tears in the parking lot were flowing! So back to square one.

Of course everyone tells you not to think about it and then it will happen, but when you want something so bad, of course you can't stop thinking about it. Only 25% of couples get pregnant on their first try. Those stats stink! I will keep you posted.
Keep your fingers crossed!

Time for me to join the Blog world

I told myself when it was time to start trying to have kids, I would start a blog to document the steps along the way. No time like the present.

Be gentle- I am a new blogger.....
